Windows Vista SP 1 (review)

Microsoft memulai pengujian Vista SP1

Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate Just Around the Corner

Forget about Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta, the first Release Candidate of the operating system is just around the corner. And to accompany the next stage in the evolution, Microsoft is cooking the broadening of access to the next testing milestone of Vista SP1. The Redmond company has in fact given indication that a broader release of Vista SP1 is palpably close. Of course Microsoft has failed to officially confirm this aspect; a Preview of the first Release Candidate for Vista SP1 was announced at the end of the past week.

On September 24, Microsoft moved the first service pack for Vista from pre-beta stage to fully fledged beta.
Windows Vista SP1 Beta Build 6001.16659 was made available to over 12,000 testers, also participants in the test-driving of Windows Server 208, formerly codenamed Longhorn and Windows XP Service Pack 3. Initial reports related to the evolution of Vista SP1 claimed that a public build of the service pack would be offered as the refresh moved out of Beta and into Release Candidate stage.

Starting with November, Microsoft announced the availability of Windows Vista SP1 RC Preview, for MSDN subscribers. "Get the latest preview of Windows Vista SP1 on MSDN Subscriber Downloads. This new release of SP1 addresses reliability and performance issues, and provides support for new hardware and several emerging standards", reads the announcement posted by the Redmond company via the MSDN homepage, as quoted by Neowin.

Following initial reports, Microsoft came out and denied the availability of a Preview for the release Candidate of Vista SP1 through MSDN. The company explained that the announcement was posted erroneously. In addition, the MSDN notice was removed in support of Microsoft’s perspective. Still, Vista SP1 continues to bake. With the first beta already out for over a month now, Microsoft is focusing on the next milestone of the refresh.

The MSDN Vista SP1 RC slip-up confirms that a new release of the service pack is imminent, and synonymous with wider access. Microsoft is saying nothing about a public version of Vista SP1, but the mistaken announcement also points to a potential move from Beta directly into RC.
